Scrapbooking with roller stamps

I've been playing with a couple of different roller stamps on this layout and I like how they've worked together. The larger chevron pattern is a "roller doodle" stamp by Glitz Design. I do like it but it hasn't quite achieved perfection as a stamp as there is a gap in the pattern. This is a roller stamp which you roll on an ink pad and so it fades as you roll it across the page. I think that works on this page.

The second smaller patterns are from little self inking roller stamps by We R Memory Keepers called "Sew Stampers". I love these little stamps. I think they would be even easier to use if I bought the handle that they are supposed to click onto!

I used a Studio Calico hexagon mask with my mists and dug out  little Tube map and bus timetable embellishments by Jolee's from the bottom of my file of stickers. I also added a couple of Studio Calico Polaroid frames  - Polaroid style is everywhere at the moment!

A Fimo owls workshop

Yesterday was a busy Sunday working, which is unusual for me, and it was great fun. Four lovely ladies came along to my Fimo owls workshop at the fantastic fabric/wool/ spinning/felting/ lovely craft goodies shop Spinning Weal in Clevedon. We spent most of the day building up three different millefiori canes which were then sliced up to become feathers around a core of kitchen foil.

I love how each owl has his own personality!

Learning layers

I absolutely love the look of layers on a scrapbook page. I decided I wanted to have a go at a layered page and so I decided to scraplift a design from the ultra talented scrapbooker Marie-Nicholas Alliot. Her pages are AWESOME!

Here is my version of her original page, which is the second page on the blog post here.

It is only when I started to recreate the structure of the page that I really noticed all  the little well thought out details.

My favourite bit of the page is the way the date has been added (along with the ink splats and texture stamps) - love love love it!

I've just bought some of these new little wooden cameras by Prima and they sit so well on this page.

I've learnt a lot through the process of this scraplift and I think I'd like to try a couple of more layered scraplifts to get some more practice. I am a particular fan of the layered pages by Katherine Sutton and Lisa Saunders. Check them out - they are super talented xx.

Rocket Age pages

A while ago October Afternoon brought out a lovely collection called "Rocket Age". That looks nice, I thought, but why would I want space related papers? After a trip to the Science Museum in London and a Space topic at school I soon found out why I needed them!

I love the sticker collection on this page...

Here are my little astronauts. My little boy keeps demanding that he wants a real rocket to go to the moon NOW! A cardboard box rocket covered in tin foil wasn't good enough!

I used the end of a paintbrush to draw on white painty circles as orbit type circles with some Jolee's planet stickers I found a while ago.

I'm very happy with my space pages.
