A scratchy sketch

It's sketch time again over on the Sketchbook365 blog. Here is my take on a sketch based on a layout by Kim Woods in the February/March issue of Scrap365.

Here's the original sketch...

The reason I love this page so much is the scratching. I've never scratched a photo before but I LOVE how it turned out. You can get fancy distressing tools to do this, but I used a large pin.

Check out the Sketchbook365 blog for more versions of this sketch and there's a great prize to be won too. The closing date is 15th March.

So egg-citing!

Woohoo! I'm on the front cover (well, my fabric eggs and Easter chick are) of the March issue of Sewing World.

My Fimo celtic knot beads feature on the front cover of this month's Beads & Beyond too ( third box from the left on the top row).

A Family Portrait

I completed another page from my selection of Neocolor backgrounds and this time it was the page where I stamped three times using the crayons and a large Hero Arts cling stamp of a flower. I stamped the flower again, this time in black ink over the paler impressions.

I managed to use up my last few Sassafrass stickers too.

Use it up - Sassafras stickers

I've been continuing to play with my Neocolor backgrounds and I found a selection of stickers from Sassafras Lass. I really liked this brand but they are no longer manufacturing their scrapbook lines so I decided it was time to use it up. Each of these pages finished off a sheet (or two) of stickers.

This first page is one my favourite recent pages. I used two roller stamps on it and neither of them worked perfectly (due to the textured nature of the page) but I really like how they turned out. The smaller one was a WRMK Sew Stamper (Burst stitch) and it skidded on the page a little but I like the lines it created. The second, larger one is a new chevron roller stamp from Glitz Designs from their Color Me Happy range (I LOVE this collection!).

Check out the texture on the background - Love it xx

Another great thing from the Color Me Happy collection - RAINBOW CHEVRON WASHI TAPE!! (Happy place!)

Here is my second page using my stickers. It started out on a Neocolor background page but it didn't look right so I gently lifted off the pieces and stuck them down again on this ledger type background paper. I like it much more now.

Lots of layers of patterned papers with crumpled edges...

Lots of stickers... I love them all on this page, but I'm a bit sad they are no longer in my stash!!

If you're happy and you know it

Here's another page from the Neocolor backgrounds. I added a few pieces of washi tape and used my stencil (Crafter's Workshop - mini pattern strips) to add some more patterned strips. A simple page, but I think the Neocolor hexagons add a lot to it.

Caught out by a wave

Here is my first page using one of my Neocolor backgrounds. I love this photo of the blonde one in the sea.
I made my own transparency by painting gesso through a stencil (Crafter's Workshop template - Mini burst, is one of my favourites).

I found some neon page markers from Paperchase. They are like vellum and so you can see the adhesive through then a bit but I've decided it adds to the texture of the page (!?).

I finished the page with a bit of stitching with this sun and the title, which I thought matched the burst stencil.
